Substitute Bypass to Move

The Mechanical discipline Move Component tool behavior is designed to maintain connectivity when moving application elements. It distinguishes between plumbing or HVAC disciplines depending upon which set of menus and tools are active. Occasionally, maintaining connectivity is not part of the desired work flow. The need to move a single component but leave all others connected where they lie may arise. Rather than breaking connectivity before using the Move Component tool, the Building Move Element tool could be a possible substitute in the work flow. However, the process involves breaking up the duct intersection and moving the portion up, followed by rejoining duct elements to join the duct route with suitable duct fittings.

Consider a scenario where a single segment of duct interferes with another route, but the Move Component tool would move the entire run causing another interference downstream from the first. Moreover, the process involves breaking the duct segment, moving up, and then joining, all manually. This is an opportunity to use an alternative work flow. The Bypass tool is the best solution, providing a handy resolution in this kind of ductworks. The bypass is created in a safe, accurate and quicker way.

The duct interference is circled. Moving the green run up would cause another interference where the pipe passes over the green duct.

Using Bypass tool you can move the duct juncture up bypassing the crossing duct without distracting other route elements, such as pipes across.
